We are back into the routine of school. This week, we have mostly been doing basic "First Week" actvities. We talked about the class syllabus, we set up websites for class, and had our parents sign some papers. However, we do get to listen to poems at the start of the hour, which I have never had in a class before. Also, we will actively be using our own personal websites that we have created in class using school laptops. I believe that this will be a great learning tool since technology has progressed so far in the last few years. For me, I will have to get used to using a laptop regularly in class, as technology isn't really my forte. I have decided to read "Black Like Me" by John Howard Griffin this six weeks. I chose out the book randomly, but as I have started reading it I realize I have heard of the narrator of this story before, I just had no idea that his story was written down in a book. It is about a man who studies civil issues between the races in the south who decides to pigment his skin so that he appears to be colored, he then will go live in the colored part of New Orleans. I am looking forward to learning more about his story and I am really excited for this first trimester of AP Lit!
