We actually got to learn new things in math this week! How exciting! First and foremost I learned that Mr. Cresswell can talk really fast and that there are lots of heads in the way of the board. For math, we learned about limits this week. Unfortunately, I was absent on Wednesday, when we learned the first segment, so I was confused on Thursday. I was able to kind of get the hang of it by the end of the hour Thursday, so I was able to help my group with the lab. A limit is the value that a function or sequence "approaches" as the input or index approaches some value. You can either find this out by solving a problem algebraically, or you can graph it and see where the limit is. If you solve it algabraically you can take the number that the limit is referring to and plug it into the function and solve it. If the answer is one, that would mean that the limit of the function was one. If you are solving it by graphing, you can see the x value and see how the y values correlate with it. There are also pluses and minuses that tell you which way you are looking to find the limit. Mr. Cresswell taught us that if there is a plus sign, it means to start from the right or positive side and look left towards whichever value you are told to look at. If there is a minus, it is from the left or negative side. After the lesson today I am feeling pretty confident with limits, if there is anything that I am confused with it would have to be when you are solving them algebraically. Also, it can be confusing when there is a 0/0 or a value/0. I'm just hoping that I am doing these right!
