This week we learned about salt and pepper functions and reviewed limits. A lot of people seemed to have a hard time understanding the S and P functions, but I actually found them really easy to understand. Basically the reason they exist is so that we can have two functions in one graph and still pass the vertical line test. How they work is you have one function such as f(x)=2x+1 and they would only equal f(x) when x is a rational or irrational number. Then you would have another function such as f(x)=10x which would only equal f(x) when x is whichever you didn't use on the other "function". This way you can have two functions on one graph. I actually really enjoyed doing these functions and for some reason they helped me understand limits better as well. We had a big "opportunity" on Thursday, and I honestly think I did pretty well on it. I at least know that I answered the extra credit question correctly! It was a mix of S and P functions and limits, and it suddenly made a lot more sense to me. I felt way more comfortable with the material this week than last week. I also really enjoy having a TED talk every week, they are really educational and motivational and I think every class should do this. Mrs. Wertz had her Honors English 11 classes watch TED talks every week as well, and now that I don't have her as a teacher anymore I am really glad I am still able to watch these at least once a week. I am really nervous about my "opportunity" score so I hope these are graded soon before I explode!
