This week we have been watching the movie version of Macbeth or King Leer depending on the groups we are a part of. My group is watching Macbeth through a feministic lense. We have found a little having to do with feminism, but mostly we have just been focusing on trying to figure out what is happening throughout the play. This film is basically a horror movie! In the most literal sense! It is really hard to follow a lot of the time, so I am glad we are planning on watching it again. I can follow the basic storyline, but the witches throw everything off. I don't know if they are real or just hallucinations, or what theyre goal is. And what was that about those dead bodies coming to life and talking randomly?? That was terrifying and confusing at the same time! Just when I think I have an idea of what's going on something will happen that totally throws me off. I believe that Lady Macbeth will be our main focus in regards to feminism. She is a very powerful woman figure and uses her sexuality as a tool. She really desires to be treated with as much respect and honor as a man, but she figures that since that's not going to happen, she might as well use her femine qualities to help her out. Help her, specifically, to murder people, because why not? This movie is pretty interesting when you know what is going on, and what the characters are saying. The subtitles help immensely! I am really excited to see how Macbeth ends and see how we can relate the play to feminism!
